World Read Aloud Day Fun!

World Read Aloud Day March 7th
I have registered our class to participate in World Read Aloud Day. On Wednesday (Early Release), your child is welcome to bring their favorite book to school. They are also invited to wear pajamas and bring a stuffed animal and pillow. It is PE so make sure to bring sneakers to change into. We will read all day. I will read picture books and chapter books to the class. Students will read alone and with friends. It will be fun!

Bring it 4 Berkman
Food Drive for Berkman Elementary
Thank you to those families that have already sent in food donations for our new friends at Berkman Elementary in RRISD. Some of the families at Berkman are in need of food assistance especially during the upcoming spring break. For some children breakfast and lunch are provided at school so spring break will be a challenge for their families. Let’s join together as the LME community and help our friends at Berkman.
Our goal is to collect 1500 food items. That is only 2 food items per LME student. Of course students can bring more than two items, the more the better. Our food drive will last from February 27 – March 2. Don’t forget to check for dents and expiration dates.
The Berkman kids would enjoy……….
Soup, vegetables, canned goods,
Rice, dried beans, mac and cheese,
Tuna, peanut butter, Chef Boyardee,
Cereal, canned fruit, snack bars

Jim Thorpe Research, Fractions, autobiographies
We have finished step 4 of our Jim Thorpe IIM research. We have taken written bibliography; taken notefacts; and organized notefacts. We are now ready to make our products. Look for an email with product choices.
In math, we will be finishing up time and starting fractions.
In writing, we will work on prompt writing to practice writing on one topic with details.
In computer lab, we will begin to make our power point autobiography.
